Psychodography arose from ‘Walking Together’ by Chris Rose, a psychogeography and psychotherapy article I came across in Therapy Today (BACP, 2016). This process continues to teach me valuable lessons about myself and others; about identity, place, bridges and boundaries.
Psychogeography is the perfect activity for me, because I love walking and I’m really good at getting lost! I’m not so keen on getting lost on my own though, hence the dog in psychodography.
I also love writing and taking photos (I’m no photographer though and only have a crap camera phone) and I felt like sharing some of this with anyone who might be interested, perhaps due to the isolation, and to counter the apathy, as we were pushed and pulled in and out of restrictive tiers and lockdowns.
Several years on… this seasonal practice has become an essential rhythm in my life and seems to be less about the walking these days, and more about the stopping, checking-in, and letting go
